KTL’s Lab Becomes First in Korea to Gain CTIA Approval

Cedar Park, Texas, March 27, 2006 – Expect mobile phones from Korea bound for the U.S. to start making it to market faster.

CTIA-The Wireless Association has authorized Korea Testing Laboratory to conduct over-the-air performance certification testing for GSM CDMA mobile phones made in Korea and exported to the United States, resulting in KTL becoming the first Korean entity with this certification.

KTL’s new role could reduce the time involved in testing such mobile phones by two months and the test cost by as much as 30 percent, said Mark Mawdsley, managing director of Asian operations for ETS-Lindgren.

“Until now, mobile phone manufacturers in Korea have had to go offshore to get OTA performance tests done, which consumed time and cost more,” he said. “Those problems are now of the past because companies can partner with KTL.”

KTL’s testing system was supplied by ETS-Lindgren, an active CTIA member who has produced 75 percent of the CTIA-authorized test labs doing over-the-air testing.

KTL is a globally recognized testing and certification agency based in Seoul, South Korea, and affiliated with Korea’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. The original entity from which KTL evolved was established in 1966.

Based in Cedar Park, Texas, ETS-Lindgren is an international manufacturer of components and systems that measure, shield and control electromagnetic and acoustic energy. The company’s products are used for electromagnetic compatibility, microwave and wireless testing and many other uses. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of ESCO Technologies, a New York Stock Exchange listed company (symbol ESE) with headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
